Our girls go to Build-a-Bear

On 4th of July our family went to a pool party. The girls had already started swimming lessons and Maya was doing really well. Jen, their instructor had told me that Maya would be swimming in no time. Maya was having so much fun, she didn't even want her floaty. She was jumping off the diving board and Phillip would catch her. While she was playing with the older girls there, I believe she jump to one of them and they didn't catch her right away. She went under water and drank a bunch of "poolaid." She kept playing so we didn't think much of it. The next day for her lesson she was very hesitant. She was afraid to do anything she was asked to do. I just thought she was tired since they had gone to bed at 11 the previous night. I didn't worry much. The next day was even worse, it was like she had all of the sudden developed a phobia for water. She kept holding on to Jen's arms and wouldn't let go. After the third lesson without much improvement I talked to her. I wanted her to tell me what was going on. She said she was scared to go under water. I told her she was doing so great, that if she kept at it that she would learn to swim. She just didn't want to do it! Then I decided to use the reward system with her. I told her that if she tried really hard and gave it her all that she would get one thing she really wanted at the end of her lessons. She decided she wanted roller skates. The lesson after I had that talk with her went so much better. She was trying so hard, she was scared but she kept trying. After a week or so she was comfortable in the water again.  Wednesday will be the girls' last lesson. They have enjoyed it so much. I have enjoyed it as well. I feel very proud of them. Even Addison is swimming!

Yesterday, as soon as Phillip got home we went out to eat at TOGO's to use the coupons the girls earned from the reading program. Then we went to the mall. Maya wanted skates but then she was debating between skates or a bear. She decided she wanted a bear. I wanted Phillip to be part of it so that is why we bought them their present a couple days early.
Here are some pictures I took of our evening:

Lincoln 3 months

Random Pictures of Our Life Lately

They got this matching outfits for their birthday this year and they wanted to be twins on this particular day.

Our girls love Achievement Days. Last week our lesson was about inner beauty.

Lincoln was not so happy being passed around from girl to girl.

We have been playing so hard that this has been happening lately, she can't make it to nap time and ends up asleep on the floor or couch.

Phillip came home with this really yummy tropical fruits. The problem is I don't know what their name is. Do you know?

Chubby legs :)

I love this little guy. I can't get enough of him.
Addison has no fear for the water. She started swimming on Wednesday!

Lincoln waits for sisters and mom to be done with swimming lessons. Yes, Jen has been coaching me. I can see a triathlon in the near future. There is one in Bakersfield that I just might do.

Fresh produce from our friend's garden. I ate a bunch of cherry tomatoes last night, they were so sweet!

My new running shoes, Nike Lunarglide 4. I have never owned Nike running shoes. If they don't work I can always send them back and get a different pair. We have a Road Runner Sports membership, it allows us to run in the shoes for 90 days and if they don't work out we can send them back.

Reading is so Delicious

Last Saturday I took the girls to the library to redeem their prize for reading at least ten books. My kids are not readers yet, but I read the books to them. They each got a lot of good stuff, including a ticket to see the Condors hockey team, a ticket to Legoland, a free kids meal at Togo's, a free icecream cone from Chick-Fil-A, a free pretzel, a book and an invitation to the summer reading grand finale where they will make their own sundae. They were so excited for all the things they got.

Maya didn't want her picture taken with all her things, but Addi was happy to show me all her stuff.

Dental Visit

The girls went to the dentist last week. This was I believe the 3 or 4 time we have taken them. Every time they go they earn points for not having cavities. This last time they were able to redeem some of their point for a little prize. They still have no cavities, thank goodness.
