Kern County Fair

This is our third year attending the Kern County Fair. I was excited to wear my cowgirl boots, but it was way to hot I decided not to wear them (so they will sit there for another year). We had a great time! We saw a bunch of animals and birds, Maya rode a pony, we ate ribs and fried oreos, and I can't forget the yummy kettle corn. We had so much fun that we didn't get home until past 10 pm.

We had delicious RIBS!
The highlight of the night, a pony ride:
Then we watched the Alaskan Pig Races:
We played some games, but didn't win anything :(

We finished the day with dip fried oreos!

Phillip Knew It!

We found out the sex of the baby this morning. Everyone was wrong :P They all thought we were having a boy, but it's a GIRL! We are very grateful that she is healthy and growing. Her organs look normal and she is very active. I am experiencing a lot more aches and pains with this one, but she is so worth it. Maya will love having a little sister to play with.

Phillip's 32nd Birthday

I wanted to do something special for Phillip's b-day. First, I had planned on taking him to an Angels game. His brother was going to try to make it, just like last year but we never heard from him. Then, I decided to do a surprise party for him, but it didn't end up being a surprise because I needed to ask Phillip if he still wanted to go to the game without his bother or if he would rather stay in Bakersfield and spend time with his grandma, Betty. He decided that spending time with Big Red would be the best. So his parents and grandma came to visit Friday evening and stayed until Sunday afternoon. Phil and I went on a date and Martie watched Maya for a little while, thanks Martie!!! Our date consisted of some charity work, lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant and then being kids at Monster Mini Golf (an indoor Glow in the Dark 18 hole Themed Mini Golf and arcade). We had so much fun!!! Phil kicked my butt most of the time, but in all honesty I allowed him to win because it was part of my birthday present to him :) Sunday we had his famous plum jam chicken and fried rice dinner and the dessert was the traditional strawberry cake. I think my dinner came out good and for the first time the strawberry frosting turned out the way it should. He was showered with lots of love and presents.
Phillip I know you had a happy birthday :) Thank you so much for sharing your life with me.

Huntington Lake Trip

Phillip loves the mountains and I love the coast(because there is no bears). We try to go camping as often as we can; it is hard for us to make this kind of trip very often. Phillip works the evening shift and he gets out too late for us to be able to leave Friday and be back by Saturday or Sunday. He asked for Thursday and Friday off since he already had Labor Day off. So we planned on leaving Friday after I got back from school, he used Thursday as a preparation day and got everything ready to go. He was so looking forward to this trip and I was too, I just tried to forget about the bear fact. We had a great time and I was able to fall in love with the mountains, I loved everything about this trip. I was able to forget about everything, and just concentrate on my family. We enjoyed one another, and Maya made us smile a lot. Maya has such and adventurous spirit, but is easily scared by a bee :D She loved the freezing cold water! I was such a chicken that my feet didn't even go near it (touched it with my hands and decided it was way to cold for my taste). Phillip was my Bear Grylls (from Man Vs. Wild),he started a fire with only a magnesium block and a knife. We loved our time at Huntington Lake, it went by too fast :( I hope we go back and make it a family tradition.
Our beautiful spot

Maya and her favorite tree stump
WE LOVED the canoe ride!
Then we took a walk along the edge of the lake
I love how Phillip plays, and shows love and affection to Maya
Starting a fire was as easy as 1,2,3 (at least for Phillip because I would probably freeze in the cold weather with my lack of survival skills).
Maya loves it when we pretend to be monster and scare her (we are funny monsters)
