Easter Sunday

I know I am posting this a bit late. I just haven't felt like blogging, so I took a little break.

I still wanted to record our Easter. So here it goes. Easter Sunday was a very relaxing day. We went to church in the morning, came home and hung out.Maya wore a dress we got for her last summer in México. We had our own little Easter egg hunt. Maya was so proud of her little pile of eggs.

Dear Christ,

I know often times I don't follow your example.
I fail to be loving.
I promise you that I will follow your footsteps and on my way I get deviated.
I get lost and then you find me again and again.
You never give up on me.
You believe in me ALWAYS.
You hold my hand when I am scared.
You heal my heart and soul when I experience moments of sorrow and darkness.

But I always think of you.
You are the center of my home.
I am blessed to have you in my life.
Even though I didn't always have you in my life, thank you for finding me.
You came to me when I most needed you.
And now you are here with me, and I will never let you go.

I am thankful for your unconditional and endless love.

Love,
Erika Tomlinson

What a Day

So today I ran my own Boston Marathon, well at least it felt like it :) 6 miles to me felt like 26.2 miles. But I guess I can't complain, I've only been running for 3 or 4 weeks. I am hoping I can be ready for the half marathon coming up June 4th.
I am so grateful I can run, it frees my soul. It strengthens me not only physically, but mentally as well. It also helps me relax, and get rid of all the stress. Even when I get blisters with every run, to me they are worth it.

Okay, so I am about to embarrass myself all over again.

This evening, the wall by our desk was making noises. It was also vibrating. It kind of sounded like a motorcycle, right outside of our house. I felt the wall and it was really vibrating. I started to freak out because the water heater is on the same wall. So I thought maybe something was wrong with it. I called Phillip to help me figure out what was wrong. He told me to try to shut off the water and electricity and to see if that would make it stop. I followed his instructions and nothing. Nothing happened, the noise and vibrations where still there. I was getting nervous and both girls were being cry babies, it only added to the stress. I decided to call Brother Smith, the handy man of our ward. Immediately he said he would come and check it out. He got here really fast. He went in the garage to check maybe if there was something in there that could be causing the noise, but nothing. It wasn't the heater, it was not the freezer, what could it be? He came inside the house and started touching the wall, still trying to figure out the problem. He started to get freaked out as well. And all of the sudden he finds the evil baby bouncer, leaning against the wall. The evil baby bouncer was making all that noise. I guess I forgot to turn it off. I wanted to run and hide. I felt so stupid! I couldn't help it, but laugh so hard. We both did, he laughed so hard for a few minutes. Then, I made him promise me that nobody else would find out, except for his wife.

I can be the most over reacting human in history at times.

I want this wedges so badly.

I love shoes way too much!

Easy Recipe- Taco Soup

Phillip got another blood panel to check his cholesterol levels. Well, it turns out that his LDL (bad) cholesterol is a bit high and his HDL (good) cholesterol is a bit low. I don't cook unhealthy food, but with this going on I will have to be more strict with my cooking. It will also not hurt us as a family because I am trying to lose weight and Maya can also benefit from a healthier diet. I love to cook because I hate to buy fast food. I am not the greatest cook, I'll admit it. But thank goodness Phillip is not picky. He eats everything that is served on his plate. This is one of my favorite recipes because it takes hardly no effort and it is super healthy :P
TACO SOUP
What you will need:
1 lb. of ground turkey, browned (I used 99% fat free and also seasoned it with garlic salt)
1 can pinto beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can of black beans
1 can of diced tomatoes (you need a small can 14oz, I just used half of mine)
1 can of corn
2 cans of diced roasted green chiles (I got whole chiles by mistake)
1 package of taco seasoning
1 large onion, diced
1 cup of water
1. Brown the turkey.
2. Dice onion
3. Mix all the ingredients in the crock pot. Add water.
4. Cook until heated through.
All done! A guilt free meal :)

Back on the Road

Yes! I am back on the road. I started running maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago and I am enjoying it. I started training for the Fontana Half Marathon which will take place June 4th. In order to be ready for it I will have to kick my behind and increase my long distance days by a mile every week. Tuesday I ran 5 miles for my long run, then I took it easy yesterday and only ran 3 miles. Friday I will work on my speed. I don't have much time to train, but I know I can do it. I can do it because I have a husband who supports me 100%.

Wish me luck! :)

I don't think they look alike

Addison- 2 months

Baby Addison is 2 months and 3 days today. She has won our hearts with her cute little smiles. She loves to be close to her favorite people, mommy, daddy & Maya. She is growing so fast! It seems like it was just yesterday that I had a huge belly. I would wait for her little movements and imagine how she would look like. Now, she is here making us happy. Sometimes I wished I could stop the time. They grow so fast and next time I know it, she will be Maya's age and want to be independent like her big sister.
Here are a couple of pictures:

"Where a Kid Can Be a Kid"

The girls and I went to Micah's birthday party this evening. It was our first time ever going to Chuck E. Cheese and Maya loved it. It was just a bit crowded and, it was hard to hold Addison and run after Maya the whole time. But we had fun, my arms got a work out and Maya had some cake (she was in Heaven).

Maya loved dancing. She kept looking at her self on the screen.

Maya loved the cake!

I Love Lazy Saturdays- Once in a While

I made this while Phillip and Maya went to get some blood work done.
I had it done by the time they came back home.
Maya loved it! The curtains lasted about 5 minutes.
Phillip is very talented. Maya loved his little show!
After Phillip, Maya put together her own little show, with singing and everything.
After a whole day of laziness, we decided to get ready and go out to dinner.

Broadway Musical Comes to Bakersfield

Phillip took yesterday off to take his sweet wife to Fiddler on the Roof. We were amazed and very impressed. We love musicals! We try to go to at least one every year.
I will be singing, If I were a rich man..... for a while.
