Color Me Rad- Bakersfield

I HAD SO MUCH FUN! It was a race that was not timed at all. I even left my Garmin at home because I didn't want to be staring at it. I had promised my friend, Lisa that I would run it with her. She trained for 2 months and today she ran her 1st 5K. Our pace was slow and she told me I could just go ahead of her, but I had promised her that I would stay by her through the race and I did. This was not a competition at all, so I just didn't care how fast or slow we were going. Sometimes you just have to have fun. I really had to use the potty though, so holding it was no fun. I ran at 5 this morning and put in 10.5 miles ( I was supposed to do 12 but I couldn't finish because I had to be at my friend's house by 7:15) and made back home just in time to change and go. I forgot to use the potty :P. Oh well...
Ah, and my dear hubby came to see  me. I love him so much. He is my rock! I hope he feels the same way about me. I try to support him and encourage him in all he does. Just right now, he is putting in his long run (10-12 miles).
Here are some pictures Lisa took with her phone:

And these Phil took when we got home:

Some News- Maya's Surgery

I just realized I haven't said anything here about Maya's surgery coming up. She was born with a cyst on the outer left ear and it needs to be removed. It has gotten infected a couple times already and there is always the danger of it spreading to the brain. We don't want to take the risk. The doctor told us that it should be a quick procedure, it will take about 45 minutes. He said that there is a risk though. There is a small possibility that some damage to the nerve can occur. The nerve that controls the movement of the forehead and the eyebrow runs close to some of the strands of the cyst. I am praying things will go well. Can you please say a prayer for my little one? All she says is, "I don't want to close my eyes." I told her everything will be alright. My little girl is brave and she always does great at the Dr.'s. I know this will not be an exception. Oh yes, and the surgery will be July 16th sometime in the morning.

Don't leave your kids unattended and a couple other things

This morning the girls woke up bright and early. Really?!! They go to bed late and wake up earlier. How does that work? Somebody explain it to me. Shouldn't they sleep in and wake up later than usual. Not my children. So this morning I left them unattended for like 5 minutes and this is what I found:
I have not done my make up for like 2 weeks and today I was in the mood for a little color. This picture is for my mother-in-law, because she loves make-up. Martie, I followed the Purple Cat tutorial in the Urban Decay pallet.
This is Rachel. She is Maya's new little friend. They play nicely and share. They are so nice to each other. I painted their faces, but Maya washed it fairly quickly.
Anyway, I have to go run some errands this morning. I better get going. Have a wonderful weekend! I will. Oh yes, Color Me Rad is tomorrow!

DIY Christmas Present

I know Christmas is still far away. However, if I am going to make the girls' gifts this year I should better get to it. I am still not 100% if this is what we will do. I talked to Phillip about a while ago and he liked the idea. Which one do you like better?

I am not bragging

I promise I am not bragging. But this morning was a good one for me. I ran 8 miles at an 8:37. I know we went a little faster than that, but we got stopped at couple lights and we forgot to stop our watches. So it messed up our times. Our overall time was 69 minutes even. I am doing a happy dance over here. I guess this was a good start to my day, then later it will go down hill because I have an OB appointment. Am I the only one who hates the OB? I have never taken both girls with me to the OB. We will see how it goes. Just thinking about it is making me stressed out. I am bringing blind folds for both of my children :P
Have a good day my friend. I hope there are no OB appointments for you this day.
Here is a little quote I found and wanted to share:

Oh Summer How I Love Thee

You know? I am a bit bipolar about summer. I love summer, but some days I hate it. Summers in Bakersfield are hot, really hot! But today was one of those days where I just loved this season. If I got to spend the summer with my favorite people in Bakersfield, I think I would forgive the heat. I am serious when I say these are my favorite people. Time flies when we get together. I laugh so much that I forget about all my worries and concerns. I love these people. Gladys and Fern, thanks for your friendship.

I took some pictures of them. They are such a cute family, just check them out. They don't even look Mexican ;)

A Big Coincidence

Yesterday we saw Gina, Dustin and Kevin at the Los Angeles Temple. They came all the way from Utah to attend a wedding. It was a real treat to see family at the Temple, especially when you are not even expecting it. Everything worked out so that we could be at the same place at the same time.

One hot evening

We decided it was time to set up our tiny pool. The girls were so excited as I turned blue trying to blow up the giraffe. I got light headed and dizzy, but my girls' excitement was well worth it. They played in the water until the sun went down. Then we came in, had dinner, got cleaned up, read a couple books and went to bed. A pretty relaxing evening I must say.

Even Phillip liked  him ;) He was waiting for Thor to take his shirt off over and over again.

BTC Summer Series #2

I did my second official 5k. I don't know my time because to be honest I ran and didn't even pay attention at the finish. They should post our times in a few days. It was so hot outside (89 degrees)! But I enjoyed every bit of it. This time we ran with the West Valley High Cross Country Team. This kids are fast! My bishop was there too, after all he is their coach so he needed to set a good example for them. I can't wait for the other race in 2 weeks.

Dear Addison,
You are the most amazing and loving baby. You are an early morning riser. You love juice, which equals milk (I don't know why you call milk, juice). You can say a few words such as juice, no way, mama, papa, bye- bye, hi, thanks, dia-dia (diaper), that, oh oh, wow, choo choo, hot (in Bakersfield you learn that word fast). You are slowly learning, but you are learning. I love you to pieces. You are the sweetest baby. You love your sister, you get sad when Maya is sad and you run to her to give her hugs and kisses. You love to share and I am safe to say you are a mama's girl. But you melt when you see papa too. He is your favorite guy! I love you with all my strength.♥ You make our family complete. And thank you for the blessing of being your mother.
XOXO,
Mama

Happy Father's Day

to the handsomest man ever!
Maya made this for her papi a few days ago.

We attempted taking a picture with these signs, but this is all I got.
His gifts from me, plus a real Boston Terrier! Meet LOLA.
I found his Boston t-shirt on Etsy. The shop's name is Clevotine.
I was looking through Pinterest and came upon this picture.

I loved the idea...well because I love super heroes. Also, because I think Phil is one awesome Super Dad!  I was able to find Dad's Root Beer at the World Market. They always have the coolest things. I also went to Micheal's and found his gift bag, coasters, and a little bucket.

I found a tutorial on how to make the  pom pom and the banner too.

The dessert was so good. I followed a recipe I found on one of my favorite blogs. Here is the link if you ever want to give it a try. It was super easy and very yummy.
"Pink Stuff"
Phillip I love you so very much. You are an amazing father and words or gift can not express how grateful I am to call you mine. You are a great example to the girls on how to be a father and a good husband. Thank you for working hard and always loving us. You are the best papi out there :)
