On 4th of July our family went to a pool party. The girls had already started swimming lessons and Maya was doing really well. Jen, their instructor had told me that Maya would be swimming in no time. Maya was having so much fun, she didn't even want her floaty. She was jumping off the diving board and Phillip would catch her. While she was playing with the older girls there, I believe she jump to one of them and they didn't catch her right away. She went under water and drank a bunch of "poolaid." She kept playing so we didn't think much of it. The next day for her lesson she was very hesitant. She was afraid to do anything she was asked to do. I just thought she was tired since they had gone to bed at 11 the previous night. I didn't worry much. The next day was even worse, it was like she had all of the sudden developed a phobia for water. She kept holding on to Jen's arms and wouldn't let go. After the third lesson without much improvement I talked to her. I wanted her to tell me what was going on. She said she was scared to go under water. I told her she was doing so great, that if she kept at it that she would learn to swim. She just didn't want to do it! Then I decided to use the reward system with her. I told her that if she tried really hard and gave it her all that she would get one thing she really wanted at the end of her lessons. She decided she wanted roller skates. The lesson after I had that talk with her went so much better. She was trying so hard, she was scared but she kept trying. After a week or so she was comfortable in the water again. Wednesday will be the girls' last lesson. They have enjoyed it so much. I have enjoyed it as well. I feel very proud of them. Even Addison is swimming!
Yesterday, as soon as Phillip got home we went out to eat at TOGO's to use the coupons the girls earned from the reading program. Then we went to the mall. Maya wanted skates but then she was debating between skates or a bear. She decided she wanted a bear. I wanted Phillip to be part of it so that is why we bought them their present a couple days early.
Here are some pictures I took of our evening:

I'm glad that you were able to get to the bottom of it with Maya, what a good mom! That's neat that Phillip was able to go along as well. It looks like it was a fun time. Maya certainly earned her bear :)
Haha. I love the picture of Addison holding her rabbit. Her expression made me laugh.
